A vital component of a well-rounded training experience is the opportunity to participate in ongoing research. At Bridgeport Hospital we emphasize clinical research and require that every Fellow participate meaningfully in at least one clinical research project during the required three year curriculum. Ample attending staff supervision is available to provide assistance in formulating and carrying out appropriate projects. Our fellows have presented abstracts at regional and national meetings. We hope that many of these will lead to publication. In addition, the Section is actively involved in many multicenter trials involving interventions in acute myocardial infarction, thrombolytic therapy, congestive failure and arrhythmia management. In summary, the Cardiology Fellowship Program is a fully accredited, 3-year program that provides trainees a broad-based experience in clinical cardiology, leading to eligibility for ABIM certification in Cardiovascular Disease. All our recent graduates who have taken the ABIM Certify Examination have passed.
