The Bridgeport Hospital Medical Library
Besides some 350 journals and over 3000 texts, articles from journals not carried in our library are quickly obtained from other institutions. It offers Ovid Medline and personal computers with graphic programs for slide presentations. Free photocopying, a monthly table of contents for requested journals are available. There are extensive on-line resources available through the library web-site.

Pulmonary Conferences
Structured conferences are part of the training program in areas of Chest Radiology, Pulmonary Physiology and Pathology. Pulmonary conferences by Yale faculty are held regularly in addition to the Yale State Chest Conference. The schedule includes weekly conferences in Research and Basic Science, Pulmonary Grand Rounds, Pulmonary Journal Club, and Board Review Sessions in addition to the weekly Yale State Chest Conference. There is a monthly Pulmonary/Pathology/Radiology Combined Conference and a monthly Joint Fellows Conference.

Summer Core Lecture Series
The fellows attend the Pulmonary Summer Core Lecture Series at Yale in New Haven and the Yale Summer Core Pulmonary Pathology Series at the West Haven VA.

Fellowship Computer Services
Each fellow's desk has a computer with a high speed internet connection, access to the Pulmonary Function Laboratory Database, the Sleep Center Database, the hospital online radiology PACS system, and the hospital laboratory/order/note system. All records, including procedure logs, work hour tracking, case logging, and the evaluation system are on a single website shared by the Internal Medicine Residency and all of the Fellowship Programs.

Other Services
The Fellow will interact with a well equipped full service Radiology Department. Pulmonary angiography, CT scanning and MRI are all available as well as ultrasound. The Pathology Department offers a full complement of services including flow cytometry. Experienced thoracic surgeons perform the full gamut of procedures including videoscopic thoracoscopy. Opportunity is available to gain experience with the pulmonary complications of burns in the Burn Unit which is the only Burn Center in New England apart from Boston. There is frequent interaction with the Surgical Critical Care Fellowship Program.
