Residents typically attend two radiologic conferences per day. Both faculty and prominent outside lecturers present at conferences held 7:30-9:30 a.m., during the noon hour or from 4:00-6:00 p.m. At the beginning of the academic calendar year, conferences are predominantly didactic or case-based around a particular subject. These didactic conferences help to introduce new residents to important radiologic concepts. As the year progresses, conferences include more random cases in order to simulate real practice interactions with clinicians. These random case conferences, coupled with board review sessions, help to prepare residents for the American Board of Radiology (ABR) exams.
Residents are responsible for presenting at Monday morning conferences for fellow residents within the department. They are also required to participate in Friday morning interesting case conference with an attending facilitator, as well as bi-monthly Journal Club sessions. They are required to present at bi-monthly Morbidity and Mortality noon conferences, and attend weekly Physics lecture. Senior residents are required to present a "Senior Talk" noon conference on a specific subspecialty for attendings and residents.
Residents are also actively involved with presenting cases at several multidisciplinary conferences in our institution, i.e. weekly GI-Radiology, Pulmonary-Radiology and Rad-Path (Tumor) Conferences.
